UPDATES
Dr Taylor inquired that the letter concerning revising the policy under Charter C5-2(F) for the Board of Health meeting attendance, had been submitted to the selectman.
Jane informed the Board that the letter had been submitted.
Jane also said that the Eastham Rabies Clinic was held Saturday, April 3,2010. She informed the Board that the vaccine baiting program to reduce rabies in wildlife will be distributed on May 5, 2010.
NEW BUSINESS
Jane Crowley reviewed all that the Health Department is responsible for:
1. Permits for well and septic system
2. Perc tests and soil evaluation
3. Review of septic inspection report
4. Card reminders about pumping septic system sent to owners
5. Free Nitrate test - every 3 years
6. Routine water testing submitted to Health Department every Wednesday and the County Lab picks up the samples.
7. Eastham Wastewater Planning project (consultants Sterns &Wheler)
8. Food Inspection for restaurants and schools
9. Swimming pool inspections
10. Closing of beach when the county calls with elevated bacteria count after water testing
OTHER BUSINESS
The Board Members agreed that there is a need to establish a safe disposal program for unwanted medications and prescriptions. The Board
requested that Jane might find out the procedure to set up a program. The Board members stated they would volunteer to help set up a program.
